Comcast and Sprint Reach Agreement
6:54 pm on July 29, 2005 | Category: Business, VoIPThere has been some speculation during the past few weeks that Comcast has been negotiating an alliance with Sprint, which could see an integrated wireless arrangement between the two companies. The companies came to an agreement yesterday, which will allow for increased connectivity between Comcast’s VoIP network, and the facilities of Sprint’s traditional landline network. Sprint will provide a bridge into its wireline network for Comcast Digital Voice subscribers.
Although the official announcement didn’t mention anything about wireless services, it did appear to further solidify the growing alliance between the two companies. It is a good example of Sprint’s aggressive expansion into new markets, and brings Comcast a step closer to becoming the first major carrier to provide bundled voice, data, video, and wireless services.
