Sprint and Verizon Announce Inter-Carrier Multimedia Messaging Service

Sprint and Verizon Wireless have announced an inter-carrier Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) agreement, which will allow over 70 million wireless customers who use the two carriers to exchange graphical and video messages with their camera phones.

This interoperability service will be provided by Mobile 365 and VeriSign, which both support the CDMA2000 1X network standard, used by Verizon and Sprint.

Sprint customers can now send and receive multimedia to and from Verizon Wireless, Cingular, Bell Mobility, and T-Mobile USA users, while Verizon Wireless customers are able to exchange multimedia messages with customers of Sprint, Cingular Wireless, U.S. Cellular, and Leap Wireless.
