New Security Enhancements on Nortel Meridian Telephones
5:16 pm on August 10, 2005 | Category: Telecom ServicesNortel (NT) introduced enhancements yesterday to the Meridian series of telephones, bringing them up to a level that better protects sensitive information, and meets strict security requirements for US government use. The Secure Meridian Telephone offers a wide range of security features, which prevent intrusion into government communication networks, and protect against equipment tampering.
“Today more than ever it is critical that the U.S. government has highly-reliable and secure communications systems to analyze and use the information needed to protect the country and its citizens,” said Chuck Saffell, the CEO of Nortel PEC Solutions. “With its Secure Telephone, Nortel continues to deliver networking technologies specifically designed to help governments protect mission-critical information.”
Each phone has a unique serial number, and is equipped with special safety feature such as positive disconnect, which immediately disconnects the telephone from the network when not in use, tamper proof labeling, which makes it impossible to tamper with the phone without leaving evidence.
