France Telecom to Bundle Broadband and Mobile Services in UK
2:31 am on September 1, 2005 | Category: Telecom Services, Web ServicesFrance Telecom has decided to bundle together its mobile phone and broadband services. Existing customers of the Orange UK mobile phone service will have the option to subscribe to 2Mbps ADSL broadband internet access for an extra £9.99/month. Anyone who signs up for the new offer, however, will have to sign a separate contract for the broadband service.
By offering this option to UK customers, France Telecom will likely attract a lot more mobile and broadband users to their service. They are not, however, able to offer a similar deal in France, as regulators have forbidden it. This is due to the fact that France Telecom is already the dominant provider of both mobile and internet services in that country.
