Skype has recently launched the latest version of its popular VoIP software for Windows. Some of Version 1.4’s most notable new features include call forwarding and support for customized ringtones.

This new version is just the most recent of many Skype releases over the past year. Like previous versions, it is completely free to download and run, and but also offers paid premium services, including SkypeOut, which allows users to connect to outside telephone lines.

Skype CEO and co-founder, Niklas Zennström comments that the new software “adds powerful and innovative new features like call forwarding and personalization, as well as offering our best ever sound quality on our simplest product to install and use.”
