Skype Makes Deal with Mobile Phone Carrier

Skype, a popular internet telephony provider, had recently signed a contract with E-Plus, Germany’s third largest mobile communications provider. The new deal will allow E-Plus’s 9.8 million customers to bundle unlimited Skype VoIP service with their wireless web subscriptions. These combined subscriptions will be available throughout Germany for €39.95 per month.

Although this is Skype’s first deal with a mobile carrier, it likely won’t be the last. Reports indicate that the company may be in the early stages of talks with Motorola about the possibility of providing Skype-ready handsets.
