Virgin Mobile to Release iPhone in the UK
12:12 am on September 18, 2005 | Category: Business, Mobile DevicesAfter last week’s US launch the Motorola ROKR E1 device has become the first mobile phone equipped with Apple iTunes technology.
The by Virgin Mobile, starting on September 26, Virgin Mobile will make the new device widely available across the UK. The phone will be sold for a retail price of £189.99, and include £5 worth of airtime, as well as a battery and charger.
Virgin’s sales and marketing director Graeme Hutchison, commented that “the iTunes phone is a perfect fit for Virgin Mobile’s customers who love their music and are keen to own the latest technology – we think it’s the most desirable gift you could find in your stocking this Christmas!â€
Note: This article refers to the Motorola ROKR, an iTunes-enabled predecessor of the Apple iPhone. The new iPhone device is expected to launch in the UK in late 2007.
