Google’s eight-page proposal for a free Wi-Fi network in San Francisco has now been publicly released, and with it come new details about the company’s plans.

The proposal talks not only about offering free wireless broadband service to consumers, but also wholesale premium network access to resellers. These resellers will be able to use the higher speed premium network to offer faster access, among other special services.

Some other details that have recently come out concern the hardware structure of the network. If approved, the plan will require radio access points to be attached to approximately 1900 lampposts and telephone polls throughout the city. This will enable the network to blanket the entire region with Wi-Fi service. Users, however, will be encouraged to make use of customer premises equipment for best results when connecting from indoors.
