RIM Gets Unexpected Help from Palm
2:16 am on October 18, 2005 | Category: Business, PDAsSince last month’s intense optimism among Research in Motion executives, the company has run into a number of difficult obstacles in recent weeks. But the Waterloo, Ontario-based RIM has now struck a deal with their main hardware rival, Palm.
The deal will allow RIM to integrate its BlackBerry Connect email service with Palm’s Versamail application on the popular Palm Treo 650 smartphone.
RIM executives say that this is the beginning of a new plan to fend off competition by becoming more involved in the mobile software industry.
