US Robotics Releases New USB Phone
1:44 am on October 24, 2005 | Category: VoIP, Mobile DevicesModem and networking market leader, US Robotics, has announced the shipment of its new USB Internet Phone, the USR9600. This is the company’s first VoIP hardware release, and the beginning of a major line of such products.
The USR9600 is designed to seamlessly integrate with Skype, allowing users to make free calls over Skype’s internet telephony network. It is about the size of a standard cell phone, and features an LCD screen for easy access to call status and Caller ID.
“The USB Phone is the first in a line of VoIP products we have planned for introduction before the holidays,” said product manager, Rizwan Akbar. “Our customers want VoIP calling to appear, feel, and sound like traditional calling without the costs associated with long distance charges and hardwired lines. The USB handset from US Robotics gives them just that.”
