FCC Approves Nokia’s First UIQ Phone
1:41 am on November 23, 2005 | Category: Business, Mobile Devices
The American FCC has given the nod approval to Nokia’s new 6708 model mobile phone.
This device is a departure from Nokia’s previous phones, in that it uses a UIQ interface. This means that it has a touch sensitive 208 x 320 screen and allows for data input with a stylus.
The 6708 will have 275 hours of standby battery life, as well as a built-in 1.3 megapixel digital camera. Internal memory is somewhat unimpressive, at just 18MB, but there will be a miniSD slot for memory expansion.
Nokia hasn’t yet released any official word on when the new model will be available or what wireless carrier will be selling it.
