The new device can be used to make free peer-to-peer VoIP phone calls, without need of a PC. Market sources say that it will have a stand-by battery life of up to 20 hours, and an initial pricetag of around US$150.
Accton will be shipping 5000 of the phones to Skype’s business partners throughout the globe for testing purposes. Larger shipments will be made for consumer markets, starting early next year.
In addition to this, Accton is also working on a dual-mode VoIP mobile phone that will support both Wi-Fi and GSM cellular technology.
