5:05 am on November 24, 2005 | Category: Business, Mobile Devices
Mobile phone giants, Nokia and Motorola have both seen significant gains in the third quarter, and tightened their worldwide market dominance, especially in developing countries.
Nokia’s global market share rose to 32.6% from 31.9% in the previous quarter. Motorola’s market share, meanwhile, saw a jump to 18.7% from 17.9% previously.
Total worldwide cell phone sales increased by an impressive 7.8% in the third quarter, the bulk of this gain being due to the increased demand for entry level phones in emerging markets.
