Motorola Plans New ROKR Phones
3:50 pm on November 16, 2005 | Category: Business, Mobile Devices, Cell Phones, MultimediaMotorola Inc has just announced its intentions to release a new and improved version of the music playing ROKR mobile phone.
The release is expected to take place at some point during the first quarter of 2006, and could be followed by yet another launch of a version that allows for wireless music downloads by next summer.
The executive who gave the announcement didn’t say whether or not the new models would work with Apple’s popular iTunes software, as the original ROKR does.
In light of recent speculation that Apple plans to launch its own iTunes phone, it now appears quite likely that the two companies could part ways and end up competing over the same market.
