SBC Communications has announced the official completion of its $16 billion deal to acquire AT&T, marking the creation of America’s biggest telecommunications company.
The combined entity will trade under the AT&T brand name, but the bulk of the board will be made up of SBC executives. Three former AT&T executives will be added as well, bringing the total number of board members to eighteen.
The newly merged super-corporation will now have services covering every major segment of the communications market, including wireless and fixed line phones, as well as corporate telecom services.
A new corporate logo for the company is expected to be unveiled on Monday.
