Over the past few months, several major handset manufacturers have started experimenting with folding and sliding components, in order to create some of the most sleek and compact devices ever to hit the market.

Some of the most notable sliding smartphones include the Nokia N80, the UTStarcom PPC-6700, and Samsung’s t809. All three of these have keyboards or keypads that can be folded out when needed, and conveniently tucked away the rest of the time.

The makers of these advanced devices usually use some kind of high-speed cellular network such as Sprint EV-DO or T-Mobile EDGE.

Overall, sliding phones have shown themselves to be highly attractive and convenient devices, with an array of great features. Such devices don’t come cheap, but if you like nifty gadgets and don’t mind paying a little extra, a sliding cell phone might just have your name on it.
