Telus Workers to Vote on Another Contract Proposal
1:37 am on November 9, 2005 | Category: BusinessLess than two weeks after Telus workers rejected their employer’s contract proposal, a revised offer has been proposed by the company.
Although the exact terms of the new proposal have not been made public, union bargainers gave it their approval late on Sunday. They have since published a statement, recommending acceptance of the offer.
Of course, this is far from a done deal, and as we saw last month, unionized workers don’t always follow recommendations. It is quite likely, however, that at least a few of the 50.3% who voted down the last offer will have changed their minds by now. And when it comes down to such a tiny margin, it only takes a few votes to tip the scales.
The results of the mail-in vote open to about 14,000 Telus employees are likely to be made public on November 16.
