VoIP: The Ongoing Telecom Revolution

4:54 pm on November 9, 2005 | Category: VoIP

Although it is still a developing technology, VoIP broadband telephony has become increasingly popular over the last couple of years. According to In-Stat, the number of VoIP subscribers in the US will likely be over 3.2 million by the end of this year.

There is little doubt that VoIP is on its way to hugely transforming the telecommunications industry, with providers slowly but surely switching from traditional circuit-switched telephone lines to IP telephony.

Although it has not yet achieved full customer acceptance, the fact that VoIP is much cheaper and more efficient than other methods of communication means that it is exceedingly likely to continue improving in popularity among consumers. Integration with numerous wireless technologies will also ensure a stronger market foothold for this revolutionary technology.
