VoIP Use Up 33% in Third Quarter
5:15 am on November 16, 2005 | Category: Business, VoIPAccording to a report by the TeleGeography research firm, the number of broadband phone subscriptions in the US has increased by 33% in the third quarter of this year.
The total number of subscriptions was recently measured at about 3.6 million nationwide, which is up from 2.7 million at the end of June. The third quarter also saw a 38% increase in revenue from VoIP services.
Although the number of VoIP users may seem insignificant compared to the 93.2 million residential phone lines provided by fixed line telephone carriers, but it’s the dramatic growth in numbers that analysts are watching.
“The threat to traditional phone companies is substantial,” said Stephan A. Beckert, research director of TeleGeography. Beckert’s firm currently predicts that VoIP competition will reduce the revenues of traditional telephone providers by as much as $6.6 billion by 2010.

With such a great site, why aren’t you making at least part of it directed to the end user, Joe Public. Although I know how it works, have broadband coming in, want to switch to VoIP I can’t find anything (at lease easily find anything that tells me !”If you have broadband service and you’re paying XYZ, call us and for no charge we will switch you over to VoIP in a jiffy an you’re phone bill will be the same every month unless you use our overseas connection. Imagine that, $20 a month for nationwide, anytime, no restrictive minutes to count, just call us and we’ll take it from there. You don’t need to know how a watch works to tell the time. ViIP delivers the same or higher quality voice service as your current phone company without the 4=5 page bill that may run twice or three time your current cost. Go ahead, take a step into the future.
Oh, by the way, bring your friends with you and receive a $20 coupon off your already low VoIP.
You guys know what the VoIP problem is? The public doesn’t know and DOES NOT CARE how it all works, just KISS tell them if they don’t like it after 90 ( give them time to get used to the low predictable payments) and they won’t leave. Why? Becuse the next VoIP guy calling on them Doesn’t want to KNOW about the technobabble, people hate change and they won’t mess with a good thing. Once you got’em send them a happy postcard once every few months telling them how lucky they are to be off traditional phones.
If that dosen’t work, I’ll give you a C note.
Marketing isn’t difficult on this, stay away form geek speak and gain tons of market share. Forget “educatinng” the public” the public dosen’t want to be educated, they only want to be abel to know A. Will it lower my phone bill? B. Can I call Bessie (who lives in Yackama)and yap for 6 hours and not pay anything more? C. But I don’t like learning how to use new stuff.
YES, YES, Don’t learn a thing. Push buttons the same way you do now and talk. Just mention the phone number WILL OR WILL NOT change before you pitch . You’re welcome so send me you’re markeing managers monthly salary becasue if you do it this way you will gain share. Keep doing what you’re doing and thats’all you will do

Thanks for your feedback. This site was designed with the original intention of educating people about the technolgies that are used in everyday communication. It is also intended to be a tool for telecommunications industry professionals who are interested in this from a technological perspective.
I do understand, however, that it also attracts a large audience of consumers who simply require basic information on the services themselves.
In order to better assist such visitors, TeleClick.ca will soon be adding a number of consumer information channels, with useful articles about how to utilize telecommunications technology from a consumer perspetive. Subject areas covered will include cell phones, wireless broadband, internet services, and VoIP.
The first of these information channels should be rolled out by early next week. Stay tuned.

Not suprising. VoIP technology is a hot stuff right now. There’s a reason all the major telco and networking companies are trying to get in on it.

The use of VOIP will just continue to rise. Businesses are taking advantage of it and increasing revenue. Watch out for more high speed internet providers to offer the service. http://best-t1-line.com
