Intel and BMW Forge Technology Partnership

Computer chip manufacturer, Intel has recently formed a multi-year long partnership with Germany luxury carmaker, BMW. Intel will sponsor BMW Sauber cars in Formula One motor races, and both companies will collaborate on in-vehicle technology.
The deal involves Intel helping BMW to standardize its IT infrastructure across all of its dealers and data centers around the world, and provide Centrino processors in order to help encourage the use of Intel-based laptops and PDAs.
The company’s will also begin working together to create a specification for addition of phones and portable music players to BMW vehicles.
“With Intel as official corporate partner of the BMW Sauber F1 Team, the Intel brand will reach hundreds of millions of passionate fans worldwide each year, fans who appreciate the critical role that technology plays in Formula One,” said Intel’s chief marketing officer, Eric Kim in a recent statement.
