Intel Pushing IEEE to Standardize Wi-Media
1:55 am on December 13, 2005 | Category: Business, Wireless Technology
The world’s biggest computer chipmaker is pushing the IEEE to drop its current wireless broadband-networking standard, in favor of Intel’s own Wi-Media specification.
Intel has been trying to get Wi-Media standardized for some time now, by continually soliciting the IEEE, as well as the more commercially friendly ECMA.
Once the specification receives the backing of the ECMA, the Wi-Media Alliance is hoping to have more bargaining power with the IEEE as well.
