Nokia N80: The Home Media and Entertainment Handset
6:45 am on December 24, 2005 | Category: Mobile Devices
Global handset leader, Nokia has recently unveiled the first mobile phone to enable seamless networking with compatible home media devices, including televisions, audio systems, and personal computers.
The Nokia N80 has been described as compact but feature rich and strong in performance. It offers users the opportunity to access personal entertainment on the same device that is packed with useful office and productivity tools.
This 3G-multimedia cell phone weighs just 134 grams, and can be used to listen to music, browse the web, and take pictures with a built-in 3-megapixel digital camera. Even more notable are its abilities to tap into your home’s media network by wirelessly communicating with a variety of home entertainment devices, acting almost as if it were an advanced remote control.
Anssi Vanjoki, the executive VP of Multimedia Nokia described the N80 as “a multimedia computer that genuinely enriches people’s lives with connected, mobile multimedia experiences, the Nokia N80 is the size of a stack of business cards.”
It looks like the N80 has true potential to pioneer many advanced new functions for mobile phones. It will likely be offered on the Cingular network sometime in early 2006.
