Option and Nortel Take HSDPA Mobile Broadband to New Heights
1:33 am on December 24, 2005 | Category: Wireless Technology
Mobile broadband company, Option, working in conjunction with Nortel, has recently carried out a demonstration of the high transfer speeds that can be achieved with HSDPA mobile data cards.
The experiment was carried out at a Nortel research campus in Chateaufort, France, and demonstrated download speeds of 3.6 Mbps, an all time high for HSDPA technology.
Some of the testing involved placing a connected laptop into a moving vehicle, to illustrate the reliability of mobile wireless broadband, even when moving at high speeds.
By conducting this kind of testing, Option is trying to promote the idea of a worldwide HSDPA data network, which would provide web surfing, live television, MP3, and music services to users who desire increased mobility.
