2:09 am on December 31, 2005 | Category: Mobile Devices, Wireless Technology
Samsung Electronics has made plans to unveil its first HSDPA-enabled 3G cell phone at the 2006 International Consumers Electronics Show, which will take place in Las Vegas next week.
The new handset will use High-Speed Downlink Packet Access to transfer data at lightning fast speeds over any WCDMA cellular network.
This introduction comes shortly after Vodafone agreed to be the exclusive distributor for Samsung’s HSDPA cell phones in Europe. Official launch dates for these advanced new handsets will depend on Vodafone’s plans for commercializing the technology.
HSDPA has already been commercially launched in the United States through the Cingular wireless network.
