Popular internet telephony provider, Skype has recently released two new versions of their software for Pocket PCs that run Windows Mobile 5.0.

The new Skype versions (1.2.0.89 and 1.2.0.91) both offer improved voice quality, compatibility with Wi-Fi, 3G, and EDGE wireless standards, and a handy new VoIP voicemail feature. All in all, it is a much more efficient and user-friendly to the myriad of SIP softphones currently on the market for PDAs.

It is important to remember, however, that Skype is not yet available for Symbian mobile operating systems. This will likely end up bolstering the market for Windows-based PDAs, whilst doing the opposite for devices that run on Symbian.
