Will Verizon Sell the Motorola Q?
5:30 am on December 20, 2005 | Category: Business, Mobile Devices, Telecom Services
It appears more and more likely that Verizon Wireless will begin selling the much-anticipated Motorola Q sometime early next year.
The Q is a new Motorola handset that will meld the functions of a BlackBerry with the popular RAZR cell phone. It uses CDMA (Code-Division Multiple Access) technology, and run on the Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system.
A spokeswoman from Verizon has confirmed that America’s third largest wireless carrier is testing the Q on its network, but claims that “we don’t know if we’re going to sell it or not.â€
This inconclusive answer, along with Motorola’s refusal to comment has sent the rumor mill spinning. Most analysts currently believe that Verizon will indeed end up offering this device, which has been nicknamed the “RazrBerryâ€. And if they do choose to carry the phone Verizon is likely to act quickly, with a launch in the early part of 2006.
Speculation about this upcoming launch is akin to that surrounding the first RAZR phone release back in 2004. With its excellent combination of in-demand features, the Q is likely to become a quick success and further boost Motorola’s favorable position in the US handset market.

I wish I could get the RAZR on prepaid without paying $500 for it.
