Yahoo Offers Streaming Video of CBS Sitcoms

A recent deal between CBS and Yahoo is resulting in more integration this week, between television and the internet.
Yahoo is offering streaming video of two CBS sitcoms, including “Two and a Half Men” and “How I Met Your Mother”. This is the first time that a web portal has streamed a CBS television show in its entirety. Both shows are being offered for free, and without commercials.
This follows similar arrangements, such as AOL streaming a number of classic TV shows, and NBC and ABC programming being made available on the Apple’s new video iPod.
These types of offerings are turning the internet into a growing distribution channel for television programming, and exposing a huge number of people to this latest entertainment revolution.
Yahoo Inc. is streaming this week CBS comedies “Two And A Half Men” and “How I Met Your Mother,” the latest example of the merger of TV and the Internet. A recent survey by the web metrics firm, ComScore Networks suggests that 56% of US internet users have watched some type of streaming video content while online.
