Google Extends Personalized Home Page to Mobile Phones
6:20 am on January 15, 2006 | Category: Web Services, Mobile Devices, Cell Phones
Google has just made yet another of its internet services available to mobile phone users today, by allowing the personalized home page to automatically reformat itself for handset screens.
The personalized home page feature allows users to log in and view news, weather, and other content specifically targeted to their interests. It can be accessed by visiting http://www.google.com on your web-enabled cell phone, then clicking the “personalized home” link and logging in with your existing account information. Once this is done, your login information will be saved as a cookie, and you will automatically see the personalized page whenever you visit Google.
The service is available on any handset that has an XHTML-enabled browser, and SSL security capability.
Making personalized home available on cell phones is just the latest in a series of moves by Google to make their services more mobile. GMail for example was extended in a similar fashion last month.
