New Gadget Solves Small Screen iPod Woes
5:33 am on January 4, 2006 | Category: Mobile Devices
Since the launch of Appleās video iPod, one of the biggest complaints from users has been the small screen associated with such a small device.
But now, a company called eMargin claims to have developed a solution. The EyeBud is a wearable headset that creates the same viewing experience as if you were watching a 105-inch screen from a distance of 12 feet. This creative new gadget is set to be formally unveiled later this week at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
At a retail cost of $599, however, it is unlikely that this device will ever become mainstream. Sure, a few hard core iPod enthusiasts will probably get a lot of use out of it, but for the average person, $599 would likely be better spent on actually buying a decent sized TV.

While I agree that the cost is high for those who would use it exclusively for the IPod, its other uses could justify the cost for some users. It is essentially a monocular HMD of the type made by other companies for professionals who need portability to view documents on the job.
