A Python programmer has recently developed a new piece of mobile software that can collect and analyze live data from United States Geological Surveys, and give an alert in the event of an impending Tsunami.

Such an application will likely be very useful in countries bordering the Indian Ocean, where Tsunami risk is now assessed and reported on a continual basis.

The Mobile Tsunami Detector is compatible with a variety of web-enabled Nokia handsets, including the 3650, 7650, 6600, 6620, 6680, N-Gage, 7610, N70, and N90.
