Atlantic Canada’s leading telecom provider, Aliant, has launched a new high-speed wireless data network in Halifax, which will offer data speeds five times faster than any other network in that city.
Aliant customers may access the new Evolution Data Optimized (EV-DO) network on any compatible cell phone or PDA, or by purchasing a Kyocera Passport wireless card for use with a laptop computer.
According to the company, this launch is only the first of several wireless data roll outs in Atlantic Canada. Aliant will be investing $20 million in EV-DO expansion over the next two years, and aims to service about 60% of people in the Maritimes by the end of 2007.
