Bluetooth Wireless Standard Making Impressive Headway
7:00 am on February 24, 2006 | Category: Mobile Devices, Wireless Technology
Shipments of Bluetooth-enabled devices have seen yet another record quarter, bringing 2005 sales 244% higher than those of 2004.
Cell phones and wireless headsets continue to be two of the most common applications for Bluetooth technology.
Although most Bluetooth headsets currently on the market are mono versions, wireless stereo headsets are expected to see a major increase in shipments during 2006. With more of these higher sound quality devices on the market, Bluetooth will become more viable for use in MP3 players, further boosting the impact of the technology.
Other areas where the Bluetooth wireless standard is expected to make headway this year include notebooks, PDAs, and automotive devices. This huge increase in popularity is bringing Bluetooth from a niche market to a mainstream standard much faster than anyone expected.
