Click-to-Call: Sleeping Giant of Internet Advertising?

Click-to-call advertising is a brilliant idea in that it provides a bridge between the internet, and direct telephone inquiries.
Surveys have shown that most advertisers would much rather have a live call with a potential customer than a simple click to their website, and the reason for this is self-explanatory, as phone communication generally results in a much higher conversion rate.
With bid pricing in some industries as high as $50 per call, click-to-call might just be the “next big thing” in the online media and advertising industry.
At this point, the trick is to build that bridge, allowing customers to click a link, and instantly place a direct call to an advertiser. Google already has a patent pending on click-to-call advertising for mobile phones, and is likely also looking at ways to use the model over the internet.
Perhaps when the true potential of this type of advertising is realized, free PC-to-Phone VoIP services will begin emerging to broaden the potential market reach of this unique form of advertising.
