Comcast Edges Ahead of Verizon in Broadband Internet Speed
5:45 am on February 24, 2006 | Category: Business, Web Services
US cable giant, Comcast is trying to attract more users to its broadband internet service by raising the maximum potential speed of its premium broadband network to 16 Mbps.
This is a slight jump ahead of the 15 Mbps of downstream bandwidth offered by Verizon Communications, but Comcast still has a long way to go before truly surpassing its top rival.
The cable provider will need to cut down on the $67.95/month cost of its premium stand-alone internet service, and bring it more in line with Verizon’s $49.95 monthly service price if it wants to gain a true competitive advantage.
