6:45 am on February 13, 2006 | Category: Web Services, Email, Software
Google has started beta testing a new internet communication feature, which will users to set up Gmail accounts based on third-party domains.
The new service will include all of the standard Gmail features, but users will have the option of ending their email address with their own domain, instead of @gmail.com. This allows for a much more professional and personalized email experience.
The trial is currently being run in partnership with San José City College, where 10,000 students are now able to open Gmail accounts with addresses ending in @sjcc.edu.
An invitation has been published on the Google Blog for other schools, businesses, and organizations to express their interest in joining the beta test of this exciting new feature.
