6:50 am on February 20, 2006 | Category: Mobile Devices, Web Services
Helio LLC, which is jointly owned by SK Telecom and Earthlink, has announced plans to launch two new cellular phones, tied to the MySpace.com online social networking community.
The new handsets will be called Hero and Kickflip, and are both designed for use with high-speed 3G voice and data networks.
A partnership with MySpace.com will allow users of the Helio devices to access a range of MySpace social networking services, including instant messaging, email, blogging, and photo-blogging. Gaming, music, and video features will also be offered.
The new handsets will be marketed as “cool devices†for the younger generation.
“Helio is for those of us who want a badge of personality, not a phone; a mobile lifestyle, not a utility,” said Helio CEO, Sky Dayton, in a statement.
