The latest USB Wi-Fi adapter from Linksys includes a built-in Wi-Fi finder to detect wireless hotspots nearby.

This device is compatible with 802.11b and 802.11g wireless networks, and supports WPA security. It also detects the security settings on a hotspot, allowing you to see on the LCD display whether or not a network is encrypted before trying to access it.

The Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with Wi-Fi Finder is definitely a very handy device, and can save you a lot of time and trouble in your quest for a WLAN signal. It isn’t the only option out there, however, and it’s always worth comparing several products to get the best deal for your unique needs.

Another option, for example, might be the TRENDnet TEW-429UF, which costs an extra $20, but has the added benefit of an integrated USB memory drive.
