In an effort to unify the new Windows Live internet platform across the desktops of computers and mobile devices alike, Microsoft has bought MotionBridge, a Paris-based provider of mobile search technology.

“One of our goals is to unify the online experience for people so that, instead of living in all these little silos, it brings together all their experiences in a seamless manner, for communication and information in particular,” explained MSN group product manager, Brooke Richardson. “If you want to unify that experience and give people great access, ‘any time/anywhere’ becomes critical. So, mobile becomes really important to us.”

The MotionBridge technology will allow users to integrate and synchronize their address books between PCs and mobile devices. For example, when a user adds a new contact to the address book on their cell phone, it would instantly show up in their PC contacts list as well.

Allowing users to customize their own experience, then access it from any web-ready device in the world is what Windows Live is all about. And with the help of innovative software technology, such as that of MotionBridge, Microsoft will be able to bring their service even closer to this ambitious goal.
