Motorola to Provide Wireless Networking for Super Bowl
6:30 am on February 5, 2006 | Category: Wireless Technology
The National Football League (NFL) has announced that Motorola Inc. will be providing wireless networking service for the upcoming Super Bowl XL.
The NFL’s decision is largely due to Motorola’s expertise in providing enterprise-class Wi-Fi access points. This extensive experience in connecting homes, small businesses, and corporations alike will serve Motorola well when it comes to turning Detroit’s Ford Field into a wireless hotspot for the 3000+ journalists covering the Super Bowl.
Members of the press covering the event will be able to seamlessly access the internet, and send stories back to their central offices, without needing to leave the stadium.
Motorola’s advanced wireless access point, the WiAP-200, will be deployed to provide the service. Motorola will also be deploying its MOTOMESH multi-radio broadband network to help security officials better communicate, and ensure public safety during the event.
