HCL Infosystems and Nokia have announced a new long-term distribution strategy, which will allow to companies to better develop the rapidly growing mobile phone market in India.
The new strategy involves a multiyear extension of the companies’ existing distribution agreement, which will jointly address the coverage needs of both urban and rural regions of the Indian market, and make mobile phones more easily available to customers throughout the country.
Nokia and HCL have had a strong relationship for the past ten years, and have had much success in meeting the demand for GSM handsets in the world’s second most populous country.
By extending this partnership, and potentially adding more GSM distribution partners, Nokia hopes to create a much larger distribution network. This will help the mobile giant increase its market share, while meeting the projected demand of 200 million Indian mobile phone subscribers by the end of 2007.
