Media visionary, Ted Turner, who founded CNN, said yesterday that he won’t be seeking re-election the the board of Time Warner Inc.

67-year-old Turner has been a Time Warner executive since the media conglomerate bought out his cable company, Turner Broadcasting Systems, in 1996.

In recent years, however, Turner has focused more of his attention to various philanthropic charity projects, and managing his 1.7 million acres of land, which make him the largest individual land holder in the United States.

The real estate and media mogul has “indicated for some time that he’s wanted to refocus his energies on activities outside Time Warner,” according to Phillip Evans, a spokesman with Turner Enterprises.
