42% of Teens Frequently Download Mobile Ringtones
8:20 am on March 19, 2006 | Category: Mobile Devices, Telecom Services
It may not come as a surprise to some, but teenagers are much more likely – about twice as likely actually – to download ringtones for their cell phones.
According to a recent study by Usable Products Company, 42% of mobile phone users, aged 14 to 17 download ringtones at least once a month. This compares to just 21% of adults aged 25 or over.
Numbers like this are the whole basis of advertising strategy within the ringtone market, and with most other types of mobile entertainment. Companies have learned that advertising on TV shows and websites with large teen audiences can yield significantly better results than promoting to older users.

This is not surprising to us at the Cool Ringtones Blog. The Ipsos study of 8/05 said that 52% of those 12-17 have downloaded a ringtone. The figure drops off slightly to 49% among 18-24′s, 30% for 25-34, and 17% for 35-54′s. Those 55+ is only 5%. Clearly, the younger one is, the more likely he/she is to have downloaded a ringtone.

The interesting thing that we are seeing at Ringingphone.com is that the audience for ringtones is getting older. In 2002, rap ringtones were dominant selling over 80% of the ringtones. We’ve now seen that figure drop to about 60% and the areas of biggest increase are classic TV themes and classic rock ringtones. Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Sweet Home Alabama seems to be a constant member of the Top 25 sellers on our web site.

Ringtones here is some different technology which will definately increase the number of ringtone downloads from the internet as this technology allows you to combine your voice with music and sound clips to create ringtones that are genuinely original. They are totally free. Create as many as you like and share with friends, send to your phone, or post on the web.
