Mobile phone maker, BenQ, has recently signed a contract to pre-install a number of popular Google search applications on several of its handset models.

The handset maker announced this agreement, as well as six new mobile phones, at the CeBIT trade show in Hanover, Germany.

The deal’s financial terms were not released at the event, but the company did demonstrate Google Local running on one of its existing phones. The search applications will be built right into the menus of supported phones, enabling users to make use of Google without opening a mobile web browser.

“It’s the same applications as on your PC, but on a phone,” said a BenQ representative about the Google Local service, while demonstrating the ability to bring up detailed maps and directions on an EF81 mobile handset.
