BT to Increase ADSL Home Broadband Speeds
2:00 am on March 5, 2006 | Category: Telecom Services, Web Services
BT has given a nice surprise to broadband users in the UK, announcing that it will soon enable home broadband users to access the internet at four times the current average speed.
Over 5300 telecom exchanges are currently being upgraded to bring higher-speed internet connections of 99.6% of the British population.
BT has announced it will launch higher speed broadband services across the UK enabling home users to get internet access up to four times the current average speed. Stable line rates of up to 8Mbps will be available, starting at the end of this month. This will make it a lot easier for users to watch videos, listen to music, and play games online.
How quickly users will actually see the change, however, depends on which reseller they use. Reselling providers throughout the UK will be gradually regraded to the ADSL Max service over a period of several months.
