Cingular Wireless has come to an agreement with Dell, allowing buyers of Dell Latitude D620 and D820 laptops to equip their computers for Cingular’s 3G mobile data service.
Existing Cingular voice customers can subscribe to the BroadbandConnect service for just $59.99/month. This grants access to Cingular’s HSDPA high-speed data network in 16 US cities, and EDGE or GPRS networks where the faster service is not available.
The BroadbandConnect equipped notebooks are also compatible with other EDGE and GPRS networks in over 100 countries worldwide.
Cingular claims that this deal will make life a lot easier for traveling businesspeople, eliminating the need to find a Wi-Fi hotspot.
“There’s no longer any need to purchase and bring along a separate wireless card or search for a WiFi hot-spot when traveling domestically or abroad,†said Cingular’s vice president of business data services, Jeff Bradley.
