After introducing its newly developed WiBro technology late last year, Korea Telecom is launching WiBro on a test basis today, for about 200 of its employees in Seoul, South Korea.

This exciting new technology uses the 2.3 Ghz wireless spectrum, and allows for downstream data transfer of up to 3 Mbps.

If the initial rollout of WiBro goes well, commercial availability will be extended to thousands of people later this spring. The technology is set to be fully commercialized in June, at which time it will provide another wireless data option, alongside Korea Telecom’s existing 3G mobile network.
