Motorola to Help Vivo with 3G Wireless Expansion in Brazil
4:30 am on March 13, 2006 | Category: Mobile Devices, Wireless Technology
American cell phone giant, Motorola, has offered to support Brazilian wireless carrier, Vivo, in its efforts to build 3G mobile data networks in that country.
The handset maker has already helped Vivo increase its high-speed CDMA coverage in Curitiba City, and to get the service off the ground in Brasilia, but Vivo has plans to carry out more expansion in more cities before the year is up.
So far, Vivo has set up 3G networks in six Brazilian cities, which has enabled customers to access new services like mobile TV, as well as allowing for faster access to existing services, such as wireless web browsing and email.
If Vivo can indeed carry out rapid expansion of its high-speed technology, it will be able to attract new users, as well as further capitalize on its existing base of over 30 million customers.
