A New Jersey senate committee delivered good news to Verizon Communications earlier this week, by giving regulatory approval to the company’s plans to offer television services in the state.

The Senate Economic Growth Committee voted in favor of Verizon’s plans by a 4-0 margin, making it possible for the New York-based telecom giant to compete with cable operators in New Jersey.

This victory is definitely a big vote of confidence for Verizon’s mission to deliver voice, internet, and video services over a nationwide fiber optic cable network, currently under construction.
