Due to runaway success in fast-growing emerging markets, Nokia has noticed significant declines in its average per-handset selling price and profit margins, which it hopes to correct by launching some new high-end music phones.

The company faces tough competition, however, from rivals like Sony Ericsson, and Motorola, whose RAZR phone is currently the top seller in both the US and Europe.

Nokia reportedly has some promising new handsets currently under development, but some analysts question whether Nokia will be able to break away from its historical reputation of focusing on low-cost handsets.
