Orange and Sony Ericsson have announced that they are joining together to deliver what they hope will be the best European mobile music service of this year.

Sony Ericsson’s recently launched Walkman phones will be rolled out by Orange, throughout the European continent, over the course of 2006.

The companies are planning a highly targeted marketing strategy for their new music service, which will be built around a forthcoming album release and European Tour by Sony BMG artist, Christina Aguilera.

Walkman phone users will be able to make use of the Orange World online portal to access a variety of exclusive content, including full-length song downloads, streaming music videos, and high-quality ringtones.

“We have established Sony Ericsson Walkman phones as credible digital music players and helped create a new genre of mobile phones,” said Sony Ericsson’s head of sales and marketing, Jan Wareby. “The partnership we are announcing today with Orange incorporates all areas of the marketing mix, bringing great value to both partners while at the same time providing an unparalleled music offering for consumers.”

“Music is a key strategic priority for Orange in 2006,” commented Orange executive VP or Brand Consumer Marketing, Frank Boulben. “Through the Walkman range and exclusive sponsorship deal, this venture represents an exciting opportunity to respond to customer needs and to offer a seamless music experience to our broad customer base across Europe.”
